52 Weeks of Personal Genealogy & History: Week 14 Spring

Well, it is spring again and that does remind me of the spring activities when I was a kid.  Both sets of my grandparents would be planting their gardens by now.  In a few weeks there would be fresh tomatoes and lettuce and onions from the gardens.  If we were lucky there would be a few watermelons!  I love fresh watermelon!

Spring is also the time for Easter.  Easter at Grandpa Thompson’s meant coloring eggs and hunting for them in the yard with our little baskets.

The main thing that happens in the spring though is the beginning of the bar-b-que season!  Grilled hamburgers have been a constant since my youngest childhood memories!

Unfortunately, spring is also the time for allergies for me!  I thought I have been able to really breathe during spring since I was a little kid!  Every time I turn around, someone is mowing the yard and then my head is all stuffy!

The thing that really spells spring is here for me though now is when the little yellow jonquils start showing their faces!  I have seen quite a few this year and they never fail to brighten my day!

This year we have a special reminder of spring!  A robin has built a nest in our back yard!  We all enjoy watching her sitting on her nest and look forward to seeing the little baby birds soon!
