Fayetteville – Cecil Eugene Woods, 85, of Fayetteville died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1916, in Aurora, Mo., the son of William L. and Anna Hilton Woods. As a young man, he served in the Civil Conservation Corps and retired from Ozark Forest Products. He was former president of the Fayetteville Farmer’s Market and was instrumental in organizing the Springdale Farmer’s Market. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, clerk and Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Ogden, of Tulsa, Okla.
Survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Woods of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene Woods and Patricia of Edmond, Okla., and Roy Woods and Johnnie of Springdale; one daughter and son-in-law, Ellen Woods Swift-Wilson and Jack of Fort Worth, Texas; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Elder Lewis Neal and the Rev. Lee Norman will officiate.
The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at Moore’s Chapel.
