With the Military
Eleven Northwest Arkansas Reservists left Fayetteville for Fort Polk, La., Thursday for six months active duty. They were the first contingent of Army Reservists ever sent from this area by the 444th Ordinance Co. (Ammo) of Fayetteville.
Included in the group were two Reservists from Springdale, Pvts. Raymond J. Peterson and Jerry D. Stout.
Others scheduled to being recruit training are Pvts. Richard G. Lewis, William L. Lewis, Robert M. Stinchcomb Jr. and Paul H. Ellis, all of Prairie Grove; Pvts. William J. Connell and Alvin R. Lucher, both of Fayetteville; Pvt. Jerry C. Stephens, Siloam Springs; Pvt. James M. Williams, Mountain Home.
The group will remain together for basic training. Upon completion they will be assigned to schools of their choice for further training.
