I am re-posting some of my old blog posts to keep the history of my blog alive. This post is from the 52 Weeks of Personal Genealogy & History blogging prompts series.

Week 16. Restaurants. What was your favorite local restaurant as a child? Where was it located, and what was your favorite meal? Did you know the staff personally? What is your favorite restaurant now?
When I was a little kid, my absolute favorite was McDonald’s – gotta have the happy meal! We would get the food at McDonald’s and take it to the park right behind the restaurant and have lunch and feed the ducks in the pond.
There was also a KFC (Colonel Sanders in those days)! If we were getting a special treat, we would go there and we would each get these boxes with fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy and a biscuit. Don’t forget about the “spork” and the special wet wipe in the little red and white packet because the chicken was finger-licking good!
When I was a little older and we lived on Berry Street in Springdale, there was a little drive-in where you got out of the car and then walked up to the window. They had the most wonderful tacos for 10 for a dollar!
My favorite restaurant when we lived in Green Forest, was a drive-in called Jim’s Drive-In. They had the most wonderful burrito with salad on top! There burgers were great too!
When we would visit my mom’s parents, we would stop at this little hamburger place called Mr. Quick’s where you got these little tiny burgers for 49 cents each! Those were so good!
My favorite restaurant now is an Italian restaurant called Johnny Carino’s in Rogers where I always get their chicken Parmesan! The bread they bring to the table with the dipping oil is so good! I could eat there every day of the week!
52 Weeks of Personal Genealogy & History by Amy Coffin is a series of weekly blogging prompts (one for each week of 2011) that invite genealogists and others to record memories and insights about their own lives for future descendants.
