Jesse H Stansell

avatar

This is the first installment of reports on some of my ancestors as I find new information about them.

I have been researching Jesse H Stansell today.  He is my fourth great-grandfather:  my grandfather, CH Thompson–>my Great-Grandmother, Venna Stansell Thompson–>my 2nd Great-Grandfather, William Oliver Stansell–>and my 3rd Great-Grandfather, John Robert Stansell–>my 4th Great-Grandfather, Jesse H Stansell.
From the recent finds, I have transformed my 4th Great-Grandfather from a name on an 1860 census record to a person with a history whose memory I can honor.   I now know that he was a fairly wealthy man for his time from the real estate and personal estate values of the census records.  His real estate values had decreased significantly between 1860 and 1870, but perhaps he gave some of his land to his older children.
He was a husband and father who served his country during the Civil War in a successful military career, first rising to Seargeant in Company D and then transferring for a promotion to 1st Lieutenant in Company C of the Arkansas Infantry.
Other information had indicated that Jesse and Martha moved to Oregan after 1880, but now I know that they had moved to Oregon before the 1880 census, as they are found on the 1880 census in Oregon.

Knee Surgery Actually Happened!

avatar

Well I was able to actually have my knee surgery this past Friday!  I remember going into the operating room, an oxygen mask being put on my face, and the anesthesiologist saying she was going to give me some medicine – Then I wake up in the recovery room!  That is the way it should go!

I have physical therapy 3 times a week now and it seems to be helping my knee recover.  The therapists say that I have a greater range of motion than most people do a week after surgery so I am happy!

Back to the office next week!
