“American Memory” is producing an ever-growing, online, database of audio-visual materials formerly only accessible in Washington, DC. Now keyword searching allows you to access photos, maps, music, and movies from throughout American history.

Lets Talk About It: The Shape of WarA Scholar-led Discussion Series at the Fayetteville Public LibraryThe Fayetteville Public Library will host “The Shape of War” book discussion on Sunday, February 19 at 2pm. The discussion is based on the book Crossroads of Freedom by James McPherson available for checkout at the library.This is part of Let’s Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War, a scholar-led reading and discussion program for public audiences, funded through a grant from the American Library Association ALA and the National Endowment for the Humanities NEH.

Say A Prayer?

Little Johnny and his family were having Sunday dinner at his Grandmother’s house.  Everyone was seated around the table as the food was being served.  When Little Johnny received his plate, he started eating right away.  “Johnny!  Please wait until we say our prayer,” said his mother.  “I don’t need to,” the boy replied.  “Of course, you do,” his mother insisted.  “We always say a prayer before eating at our house.”  “That’s at our house,” Johnny explained.  “But this is Grandma’s house and she knows how to cook.”                       —Copied
