The smells of different foods often take me back to one of Grandmothers’ kitchen as they were cooking a holiday dinner.
But the smell that most triggers memories for me is the smell of a farm. Still today, I can smell “fertilizer” spread on a field and I am back on the chicken farm of my Mom’s parents. I am playing in the yard and the wind is blowing from the chicken houses. To this day it makes me think of Grandma and smile.
Week #34 – Smells
Week 34: Smells. Describe any smells that take you back to childhood. These could be from meals, fragrant gardens, musty basements, or something entirely different.
This challenge runs from Saturday, August 20, 2011 through Friday, August 26, 2011.
52 Weeks of Personal Genealogy & Historyby Amy Coffin’s is a series of weekly blogging prompts (one for each week of 2011) that invite genealogists and others to record memories and insights about their own lives for future descendants. You do not have to be a blogger to participate. If you do not have a genealogy blog, write down your memories on your computer, or simply record them on paper and keep them with your files.
