Those Places Thursday: Grandpa’s Chair by the Window

Originally Published December 9, 2010.

Grandpa and Grandma Thompson moved into their house on Old Wire Road when I was a very small child, around 3 or so.  I don’t remember them living anywhere else.

From my earliest memories, Grandpa had a chair and a table or desk setting by the big Windows in their living room.  That was his chair.  It was ok for you to sit in the chair if Grandpa wasn’t home or was outside or something.  But, you knew that as soon as Grandpa came back in, you would have to get up so Grandpa could sit in his chair.

He spent many happy hours sitting in his chair and watching the neighborhood happenings from his window.

The truck you can see through the window is the truck that he drove for probably 15 years from my earliest memories until I was in high school.

Do you often think back to places where you lived and worked at one time? What about those places where your ancestors spent time? Post about “those places” with photos and stories on Those Places Thursday.
